B&Q and London Borough of Sutton Energy Efficiency Scheme

What is the scheme about?

Sutton Borough Council & B&Q are working to reduce the carbon footprint of homes in the borough. The scheme will help 100 homes to reduce their energy bills and become more comfortable places to live.

Am I eligible for the scheme?

To be eligible for the scheme you’ll need to own your house and be willing to significantly improve its energy efficiency.

How can I make my home more energy efficient?

If your property is suitable, B&Q will conduct an energy survey in your home.

Following the survey, you will receive a report that recommends the work that needs to be done to improve your home’s energy efficiency.

The report will show where you can save money on your energy bills.

Who will do the work?

B&Q will make it easy for you - we or one of our trusted partners will install all of the energy saving measures you’ve chosen, saving you time and effort.

How do I get the 40% grant?

To get the 40% grant you’ll need to complete work to a minimum value of £8,000 on recommended energy efficiency measures in your home.

Can you help me finance the remaining 60%?

If you would like help to pay for the balance, Sutton Borough Council are able to provide an interest free loan (terms and conditions apply).

How much will the repayments be?

The money you could save on your energy bills could be enough to cover your loan repayments.

What sort of work will the scheme cover?

The types of energy efficiency measures included in the scheme are:

• Replacement boilers
• Double glazing
• Loft insulation
• Cavity wall insulation
• Solid wall insulation
• Solar hot water panels
• Tank & pipe lagging
• Heating controls

How can I apply for the scheme?

To see if you’re eligible for the scheme, please visit www.sutton.gov.uk/pays and complete the questionnaire. If you’re eligible you will be contacted within 14 days to arrange for our consultant to visit your home and complete a no obligation energy audit.

Is the scheme available to everyone?

The scheme is limited to 100 homes with the following requirements:

• A residence within the London Borough of Sutton
• Privately owned
• Detached, semi-detached or terraced house
• Gas or electric central heating
• In need of major energy efficiency improvements, eg A rated boiler, double glazing, insulation
• Willingness to commit to interest free loan

SECURITY WILL BE REQUIRED OVER YOUR HOME BY WAY OF A LOCAL LAND CHARGE. A LOCAL LAND CHARGE WILL CREATE A RESTRICTION OVER YOUR HOME UNTIL THE DEBT IS REPAID IN FULL, WHICH WOULD NEED TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT IF ANY SALE IS PROPOSED.
